The 5th grade classes have been learning about the Kodaly or Curwen hand signs used for singing. This method is already used in the 6th grade classes as well as the 7th and 8th grade choirs. These hand signs are a visual and physical way to assist with sight singing as well as music making in general. They are also good for visual and kinesthetic learners. Each hand sign relates to one of the solfege syllables, do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, do.
